i was reading up on bodydroping and i been reading on lowering the cab mounts. and after i looked under my truck its only like a 1/2 in lower. so is it even worth it to cut all the mounts and weld them lower or how else is there to lower the cab. is it alot of work and is it worth it for that 1/2 in . i plan on Z ing my frame but i wanna do as much as i can while im takin the truck apart. . so if someone can post a pic or drawing or something to tell me if its even worth it . mabey even so tricks to help get the job done easly. im trying to get as low as i can with out doin a trad body drop and im not that skilled to do a stock floor, nor do i have the time to take my whole truck apart.

so correct me if im wrong . the most i can do is raised tranny crossmember, Z the frame and lower the cab mounts along with a big notch to get the full frame on the ground and lower the body a lil bit.

thanks __

Lowering them for 1/2" is not worth it. Then your floor will be on your frame. You might as well just remove the body mounts. Its less work.

What you may be thinking of is channeling, which is when you remove the section of floor above the frame, and make a cover int he form of a C channel and weld it in place.

can you tell me more about this channel process and how i would go about doing it? you mentioned about removing the body mounts, then how could i put the body to the frame? basically im just wanting some more details about the channeling process. pics will help also

he meant if you just lowered the cab mounts you might as well just take out the body bushings, you still have a place to mount the cab, just no rubber between the body and frame, theres no point in zing the frame if your not gonna get the body on the ground, if youcan z the frame, then you can certainly body drop your truck, its just cutting the floor on the sides and a couple inches from the floor on the back and front wall, brace it up first in an x pattern in between doors from front window to back wall, and let the body hi the floor, measure it out of course, and make sure your floor fillers are even, really if you z the frame, your gonna have to tub the firewall for room for the wheels n tires, so im confused on why you would z a frame and not plan on the body drop in one way or another, really channeling the floor for a body drop is more work than a traditional body drop, cause in the end you stillhave to raise the floor over the transmission and driveshaft tunnel,
just read up some more on here, and look at some others "in progress pictures, and then make a sound game plan. if your gonna have the truck apart might as well do it all at once.

What I said was sarcasm. If you lower the body to the point that the floor is on the frame, I said you may as well remove the bushings to get the drop, its the same thing.

Do a search on the minitruckin website, they did a tech on channeling. Personally I think you should try a traditional bodydrop, based on the questions you have. Its probably more your level.

ill do some more research, im really jus looking in to future plans like a winter project or find out how hard it would be just so ill know . my plans for now is just lay frame and keep it like that untill i get board with it . but i was just looking at the possibilities. the only reason i dont like a trad is b/c ill lose my leg and interior room . the toyota is already small as it is. but b/c i started reading on if you z the frame and do other stuff you dont have to do a drastic traditional bodydrop.

i appreciate all the input and i'll prolly bring up this topic around winter time when ill be ready for the bodydrop.

Yeah if you Z it the bodydrop is just over 2 inches or so. If you drop the seats a little bit its not bad.
