hey guys, im a newbie here, thanks for all the awsome info.. alot of talented guys here!, i am doing an 80 one ton dually reg cab, 454 4sp, it was a tow truck in its day, and i just rebuilt a beautiful dually box for it, my question is... i want to lower it, im thinkin of cutting coils and shackels/hangers in rear.. im after 3/4 or 4/5 drop.. im wodering if a half ton front coil will lower the front, has this been done before?. what does it ride like?.. any input on this would be awsome. thanks !!

It will lower it, but you might not like it. Remember that you have a big block and they are heavy! I would say buy the 3" drop coils you will be much happier. If you use half ton coils they will probably ride like crap (bottom out easily) and be too soft of a ride. Also make sure you run good shocks. It really does make a difference.

yes, thats what i was thinking,... is there a stiffer spring avail for the one ton, that a guy could cut? it has the otig springs ftom a small block one ton, were the big block trucks heavier duty?

They made 3" dropped springs for the 1 ton truck, I have a set that I will be selling once I can bag my truck. But I can not bag it till the weather gets warmer, it wont fit in my shop so I have to do it outside. I bought my springs back when I bought my 3" dropped spindles. Yes the big blocks were heavier duty springs, the engine weighs a lot more.
