i am trying to list my mazda on ebay and i see that there is a "insertion fee" and a "succesful listing fee", i know that i get charged a succesful listing fee if my reserve is met...

but on the insertion fee, do i get charged that even if i dont sell? thanks for the help fellas

The insertion fee is what Ebay charges you to use their services. If the auction ends with no winning bidder, sometimes you can get a insertion credit.

Ya you have to pay that no matter what....

Then if it does sell you have to pay the final value fees also.

does the insertion fee get charged to my card when i first list it or when the auction ends?

They usually collect them at the end of the month so if you have sold more than one thing they take it all at once.

i sold a truck on there a couple years ago, but i'm sure it's changed 10 times since then. it was 45 bucks to list and another 45 when it sold.

its like $40 to list it, plus any other fees like more photos, themes, preferred listing, etc....this goes to your monthly ebay fees. then once your reserve is met, or when you get your first bid (if you have no reserve), you get charged like $50 for selling it. then if someone pays you any part of it through paypal, there is a fee for that.

i still think it's worth it for all the exposure if people actually come through with it. and the ok thing is, if it doesn't sell, you can relist it without paying the original $40 again. you only have to pay that insertion fee the first time i think. may want to double check here:
