So my dually is in the body shop trying to get ready for paint. I ran into an issue today regarding the fender clearing the lug nuts. The truck is bagged and body dropped with 22" semis. Although it is an 89 GMC, I put a 77 front end on it. The fenders seem narrower than the newer style front fenders. Anyway, when you go to lay it out, the lugs will hit the fenders. I'm left with 3 options I believe. 1, I can have the a-arms narrowed, probably 1 1/2- 2 inches. 2,I can try to have the adapters machined, but I think it will compromise the integrity of the adapters. Or 3, I can move the fender lip up, making it still look factory but the lugs will clear. although i love the look of the fender covering the lugs,This is the route I'm leaning towards as it will be the cheapest and still look good. Narrowing the a-rms concerns me since I'll be fucking with geometry which could cause me to have to modify other stuff. What do you guys think? Any other suggestions?

i like the idea of raising the fender lip , i think that is the way im gonna go on my build ... i was also thinking about flaring it out a little too at the same time. post some pics of what you end up doing... good luck

I had the same problem with my 24's. i endup raising the lips on mine 2". It is a pain and lots of body work but i am going to run spikes and couldnt narrow the track enough to clear them and still be able to turn. There are pics in my build thread labeled something like 2000 bodied on 24's

Went with raising the fender lip. Body guy started on it today so hopefully tomorrow we will see. I'm glad other people have done the same thing or at least thought about it, so it doesn't sound completely ridiculous. I'll take some pictures of it.

My arms are narrowed 1 inch on each side.....welded them myself and they have thousands of miles on them.....zero geometry problems and truck rides great....only issue it has is at full lift the upper arm maxes out on the spring pocket

the truck was bagged and body dropped when i purchased it. It has tubular a-arms that I assume have been narrowed. it rides, drives, and turns well. Also, when I had the newer front end on it, the fenders cleared the lug nuts and covers. Guess the older style fenders don't "bulge" as much.
