any help on 73-87 c10 steering please????

ok i body dropped my c10 the traditional way i did not z the frame so if u can imagine it sits way low,, my steering shaft is bumping my control arm i have too much of a body drop on my cab to just cut the control arm. i am scared it will be too weak, i was going to try to use the u joints on my steering shaft but they got in the way of my headers,so what other ways do i have to get by this problem.

build a bracket for the u joints that doesnt mess with the headers or get rid of them
