Here's a question..

Is there a reference guide anywhere to cross reference a balljoints taper? Say I wanted to build arms to use for my FSC, and I wanted to keep my current off the shelf FSC drop spindles...

If i wanted a thread in balljoint for the lower, is there a guide to cross referencing the taper width to something else off the shelf? It would make life easier when making the lower if i didn't have to have a custom cup machined to use my OEM press in style lower balljoints.

Or if i wanted to retrofit a uniball instead, Is it safe to drill the taper out of the spindle and just fasten it that way?

There are two common tapers for balljoints. 7 degrees and 10 degrees. The issue is not all tapers are equal in size. They are measured by 1.5" per foot, and 2" per foot. So if one is tapered deeper, the hole on the spindle would be larger. Make sense? That said, you have to measure to make sure it works.

For a uniball, yes you can just drill the hole out and run a bolt. You may have to weld in a sleeve in order to get the right bolt size, and it would probably be more accurate. Its difficult to drill out a tapered hole. The bit bites a lot if you don't go slow enough, and that galls the metal.

You should be able to have some press in cups made for less than $100.

i am not tryin to hijack the thread but more add to it since i built my own setup and i am still workin bugs out of it.........so onto the issue...........since it was mentioned earlier but not discussed i wish to bring it up.....the use of uniballs......i will discuss my current setup and i think it will apply to any issues you may have

ok so i have currently 2 sets of upper arms from Afco racing.....they are pretty much the same except one has the ball joint at a 10 deg angle allowing more travel when layed out.....problem is this limits my lift to clear a 22.....Max i read in some other posts that a uni ball wont necessarily give me more travel.....what are my options.....if i do it i am gonna cut off the ball joint ring and weld on the uni ball setup......i saw that in another thread you said a 1" uni ball will give more travel....i was thinkin of getting the 1" uniball and the the high misalignment spacer dropping the bolt to a 5/8" bolt and drilling out the spindle......what are the parts i need and where do i get them if i go this route......Ring, Bearing, snap ring & spacer??? are they press in.....i also found a place called northeast race cars and they sell a mono/uni ball joint arm....not usre if that will work for my application as info is limited ont here site...i am waiting a response from them......they use troyer products............on the other hand is there a screw in upper ball joint that will give me the necessary travel?....thanks for letting me pic you rbrain....hope this post kinda helps answer someone elses questions also

What screw in chrysler joint works in the lower balljoint hole Tony? Does it use the same screw in ring as the k772?

it uses the bigger ring from speedway....steve uses the same ball joint.....its part # TRW 10170N

Awesome dude, thanx. I'm gonna look into that for a set of arms I'm doing now.

just bring the spindle with you....it fits perfect but will need a washer since the thread wont go all the way to the spindle surface and the cotter pin wont have an effect on the castle nut....however mine came with this washer included

I use Falcon K778 balljoints for the lowers on a Toyota.
