A friend and were discussing different bag setups and were talking about cantilevers and bag on bar setups. My question is: is a bag on bar setup a form of a cantilever system or are they two different setups? I haven't been on the scene long, but from what I always understood was that a cantilever system used as I call like a "teeter totter" setup. Like when the bag was filled, it pushed on the bar making it pivot and forcing the other end down therefore creating lift. But as my friend showed me some cantilever kits from suicidedoors.com and other places, they just looked like bag on bar setups to me. I did some research but wasn't able to really find the answers I was looking for. So any help to better understand this will be appreciated.

bag on bar would be leverage. more specifically a "mechanical leverage" setup.

This has been brought up in the past. A bar being used in the mannor that a "bag on bar" bar is used IS considered a cantilever. What everyone is considering a "cantilever" is more like a bell-crank. There is a large grey area as to what specifically a cantilever is and both a bag on bar and the bell-crank systems are technically considered "cantilever."

If there are any mechanical engineers out there that can shed a bit more specific light on this subject, I would love to hear it.

Thanx Max! That's what I was looking for.
