ANYONE WHO CHECKS FRONT PAGE THREADS

a thread that belongs somewhere else will be put where it goes. there will be no more use of mt-general for the purpose of front page rotation.

off-topic threads will probably get deleted. a thread with useful information will be moved to where it belongs.

got a problem? pm me. cause a problem? get banned.

then is it still ok to do a daily bump to a thread? a while back i made a thread asking people some stuff about moving to the phoenix area & i put it in mt general so i would get as many responses as possible even though i knew it should've prolly been in the off-topic area...

we can handle things like that on a case by case situation. in your situation i wouldn't have a problem with your "moving to phoenix" thread, and would consider making it a sticky depending on what else is happening on the site.

communication is the key. we're all about helping folks out. you help us by posting in appropriate areas, and we'll help you when the time comes.

would it be possible to do something about the people that post the same thing in 2 or 3 different forums just so everyone sees it?

maybe a ban would be a little much, but what if there were suspensions for a number of days instead?

send a message to a moderator, or post about it in the Suggestions/Comments area. duplicate threads from impatient people are a pet peeve of mine.

no worries, & don't waste your time making that thread a sticky, i got all the responses i was hoping for & i only used that as a real general type of example

i didn't mean i was going to sticky an old thread, i meant that for future reference, feel free to ask for a sticky in order to get high visibility. if it's a substantial situation (like moving to a new area) then we'll consider it depending on what else is happening on the site.
