OK so this is probably the dumbest ?? here but here it goes. Something is clunking around in my steering wheel and I can see it but can't get to it without taking the pad off. I disconnected the battery so the bag didn't go off, but I can't get the horn pad off for the life of me. It looks like it should just pull off but I don't know. Also, as long as the battery is disconnected the airbag won't go off right? Thanks for the help.

If i remember right there are a couple of access covers on the back of the steering wheel. Pull those off and there are two torx type bolts that have to be removed. The pad is connected to the airbag and it all comes out as one piece.

I'm a tard, I took a picture but don't know how to post it here. There are 2 bolts that look like hex bolts but are a little different. I guess you need a special tool?

Yeah they have a pin in the center so you do need a special tool. I just cut mine off with a cutoff wheel but i'm guessing you don't want to do that! lol

Nah, I need to reuse the factory wheel for now. Prolly something you have to get from the dealership. I guess I can live with the clunking sound every time I turn a corner. Thanks man

Anyone know where I can get the socket to remove those bolts? Or have one that I can rent. I'll pay shipping costs and send a little something else when I ship it back. I don't know just grasping a straws here. Thanks

You can get it through Snap-on or Matco tools, its a torx 50 tamper resistant, that clunking is piece of metal coated in rubber that breaks loose you can throw it away. yeah disconnect the battery, but still use caution around it.

You can get the tamper resistant bits from Fastenall as well if you can't track down a tool truck.
