i go with 2 by 3 and 1/4 wall. make sure the 3 inch is standing when you build it some people lay it flat and I dont think thats safe.

thank you so much for your response i am buyig a truck with a custom frame and i think it is 2x3 but the body mounts are too high

i used 2x4x1/4 on mine.

1/8 works if the person is knowledgeable, 3/16 and 1/4 are more common on full builds though.

so if 2x4 will lay rocker then 2x3 will allow me to cut the rocker off?

On our 1990 shop truck project we are using 2x4 1/4 to lay rocker and there is a little more than an inch from the top of the rails to the cab floor. We are not having to cut the trans or drive shaft tunnel at all using a 2 piece drive shaft. True stock floor!

so does this mean i should be able to cut the rocker....because it is already pretty messed up and dented.... so why the hell keep it around....lets get low

Edited: 1/27/2009 10:40:21 AM by superdimeso i got the truck and i got the cab off of it and it is 2X4... layed on its side i knowthat is not the best way to do it but... were should i move the cab mounts to... should i flip the mounts and mount it flush with the bottom of the fram and then with the bussings it should mount properly?... i would not mind beeing capable of laying door with stock floor is this possible with 2 inch frame? or do i still need to do some traditional body dropping... if anyone has photos of their stock floor body drop cab mounts i would greatly appreciate it... also 4 of my cab mounts are flush with the top of the frame but the ones in the back are not... can i lay rocker if i drop the back mount to flush with the top of the frame?...the guy that i bought the truck from sucked...he didnt know that he could stock floor the truck so he did traditional and put spacers in the front 4 mounts...idiot   edited  i meant to ask if i could lay door with 2 inch frame or would i need to do some traditional body dropping?.....
