My brother has a 98 Ext cab Tacoma that he thinks has the pinion angle off but is not sure how to measure. He has read some of the articles that have been posted on here but they do not specified if the truck should be level or what. also he moved the carrier bearing up about 1" or 1.5".

whats it doin? always vibrating or just when hes taking off? is it the original carrier bearing, ujoints?

it vibrates when he takes off when the back is riding really low and the front is up. the carrier bearing is original. he wants to know what the pinion angle should be at or know how to measure and when(truck level, slamed, back down, etc.)

i set mine a 1degree up, but its a nissan while it was on the ground. i need to replace my carrier, and possibly ujoints. i have 120,000 but its best set at that. what i did was set it test dirve, and adjust was very time consuming, but it worked.

you cant just randomly move things around down there, youll need to measure all the angles and set it up at ride height. heres a little howto explainging it here:
