Just wondering what size square tubing you guys are using when building the frame work for your new floors.

i use 1x1 1/8 inch for bed floors and the same for cab floors. not sure what everyone else is using. i havent had a problem with the ones i have done

1x1 in the bed... anything else in my opinion is just too much unneccesary weight

Alright I got a plan on what I wanna do but does anyone got any pics for motivational purposes?

profile of a guys taco i have in my favs here. its really clean. i wanna see somebody use like 1/4"x1" flatstock or something. should weigh about the same, but be shorter. and possibly look cleaner underneath. or use a bead roller and some thick sheetmetal instead of bracing between front/back sills/trans tunnel

Yeah joe I thought about making it smooth underneath for sh*ts and giggles but I doubt it. I'd figure to just sheetmetal both the top and bottom of the tubing. I'm just not sure what those dies will squash between them I've looked at a few to buy but haven't seen on most advertisements the recommended gauge or max it will do. I don't see it doing 1/4" unless theres some industrial one I don't know about but Id be a beast of a machine lol.

i mean like do a bunch of lines or patterns with a beadroller into like 16 gauge instead of using a bunch of tubing. the beads save weight but keep the strength of the floor.

most bead rollers are not rated for 16ga, 18ga would be fine with correct bracing. And 1/4" x 1" flatbar wont be near as strong as 1x1x1/16 square stock.
