Phoenix PD/all police

i was thinkin of joining the Phoenix PD here in AZ. i was wondering if there are any AZ cops in here? and if not AZ cops, just any cop. i have a few questions. i know there is the written test, and the physical test. but what kind of questions are on the written test? for the physical here, you have to run a mile and a half, do push ups and sit ups, and thats all it says online. then you go to recruit training for 18 weeks. i know you are paid for the training. but what goes on there? ive heard from some that it is like a school/college and ive heard that it is like a boot camp?

I'm a cop in NC, every agency is different when it comes to their testing. the written tests are usually math, reading/writing/comprehension, and some logic questions...they are basically to make sure you're smart enough for the job. I tested with an agency that had map reading as part of the test.

As far as the academy, again every agency is different, some are sleep-away bootcamps, some are live-at-home bootcamps, some are just like going to school (mine was like going to college, with some PT thrown in lol).

The local police recruiter can tell you about the academy and whats on the test. You can also visit you local bookstore, theres lots of books out there about studying for police exams.

im currently in the process to work in the jail, im gonna take the written test next week. But when i applied for the CHP, i was rejected because of all my fix it tickets and i had no moving violations or DUI's on my record.....which were window tint, tail light modifications, etc... sh*t they even went out to the parking lot and looked at the vehicles and wanted any tint or violation takin off from the vehicle by the next meeting. What im trying to say is make sure none of that stuff goes against you, and ive heard that in many places that check your car and some get suspended for having tinted windows...hopefully you wont have to get rid of the 300.

well the only thing 'illegal' is the tint on the front doors and front windshield, but i would be willing to retint those if thats all i needed to do.

They want to be sure that you're compliant with all the laws (you cant enforce laws you dont follow yourself is the theory), so obviously your vehicle has to comply with all the vehicle codes. I had to move my license plate out of the back window when I got hired because NC says your can't mount it there (thats why its screwed to the back of the bed right now lol).
