I had the tigmate with the fingertip control for tacking parts together and small jobs. I used the synchrowave 250dx for larger welds with a foot control.

one more thing... a liguid cooled torch is a MUST. I used a Bernard cooler.

eh, i have to disagree on the cooler as a must.

Its deffinentally a great addition to have on your machine, and if your doing production work, ware your machine is running the entire day, they yes, i agree a cooler would be a must.

But, i think most of the people here are looking for moderate hobby use, not to produce parts in a factory environment all day.

They are great to have, i have one myself, but for most people they arent a must.

get a miller syncrowave 200, good machine, and reasonably priced now.

if you only doing mostly dc work u can get away with aircooled. if you are doing a lot of alum work you will need water cooling as the torch gets quite hot as the current alternated between the work piece and the tungsten- and the larger the tungsten the hotter it will get.
