im bout to start my stock floor frame and i have a question would taking some 2x2 1/4in thick be good enough if i lay it on the inside of the frame then cut the top have off the original frame then weld it all up together or do i need to run 2 pieces on each side by the way its a extended cab ranger thanks in advance

Why not just run 2x3? It will be less work than doubling up on the 2x2 in the end, cleaner too.

There is a lot more going on than just running one or two or maybe some 2x3 instead. I have seen some sketchy stuff work, but I'm not a fan of any of it. Even on the Taco that we did with the 2 pieces of 2x3x.188 the chassis flexed a lot!

I didn't do a very good job at being clear in my above post but I meant 2x3 with the 3 inch side vertical, not horizontal. There should be room for it to fit under the cab like that.

2x3 run so that it is 3" tall would be fine.
