Im looking at buying a 94 chevy dually.. it has a 170000 miles and is lowered... decent body etc.. and diesel..

im looking at spending around $4500 and just wondering if anyone has any input on it.. how are diesels and the motors in them.. and there anyting major i should look out for? is $4500 reasonable?

and also the tranny wont shift to 3rd when its cold out but when warm it doesnt have a problem at all... someone told me it might be a chip in the computer or may need a new computer? its a newer tranny to...

any comments or suggestions would be great...

im going to be using it to tow my mazda around next year to some of the bigger shows if all works out...

4500 is a reasonable price, 170k isnt too bad for a diesel

Strip it

The transmission may have to much fluid in it ( if its a manual, or wrong fluid totally). IF its an automatic then its prolly a solinoid valve sticking while cold. Seen this alot in the smaller trucks.

The older chevy diesels were not that great. If you can, find a gas one. Or it would be real cool to do a duramax upgrade.
