never heard of it, can you give me more info or maybe a picture?
the carbureted version is considered 8/10ths of a common fuel injection setup because of all the feedback controls. Usually a carb is good for one rpm band and it is not great for others. If you tune for power at high rpm your low rpm power and your economy will suffer. If you tune for economy there is no way to make it really suitable for power. Following?
but the feedback carb on a mazda does what fuel injection does, automatically adjusts for driving conditions. that mess of wires and vacuum tubes on the passenger fender are not emissions related, it is a set of bleeds and vacuum solenoids that allow the carb to "tune" for different conditions.
Some mechanics call this feedback arrangement the beginning of EFI but the truth is that mazda used it as a stall to meet tougher emissions requirements for the US with their trucks.
It should be pretty easy to tell if you have a fuel injected truck vs a carbureted truck, the efi will have a curved plenum that comes up over the top of the engine. The carb engine will have a round air cleaner. But I am interested to know what you have, so get a picture.
