air problem???

last night i went out and droped my truck couple hours later i got in and try to lift it it would just raise a couple of inches then drop back down it did that for a while then i ran out of air so i ran the compressor to build up some air and and when i tryed to lift it it worked fine what could be the problem could it be the valves got stuck in a open position how common is it for all of the valves to get stuck plz need help dont want this to happen again

my dakota did the same thing i just put some of that airbrake oil in it and played with the swtches for a while and never did it again but you could also have a bad valve but airbrake oil is a lot cheaper than a new valve
