Are there any years that do or dont work? or are all the 283 and 350 blocks the same (in terms of bolting a trany to it) In short:I have a 283 from a 61 truck and i want to put an automatic behind it...anything special i need to be looking for? Or, will just any ol' automatic work?? thanks!

Generic Motors, everything is the same...

what about dual bolt pattern GM turbo350 trans? they bolt to a smallblock or an olds engine...

you hafta use a olds transmission to an olds engine - Pontiac,Olds,Buick are all the same (almost positive) but you CANT bolt a chevy tranny to one of those P.O.B. engines

I got a dual bolt pattern tranny from an olds and put it behind a 350.

have you not heard of a dual bolt pattern GM trans?

They were available in the 80s when GM was putting different make engines in different cars. ponty engines in olds, buick in chevy etc

ive heard of them, just havent messed with them since the rumor round the track is that the case tends to break do to the extra holes ... coarse thats all hear say

The extra holes also have extra webbing near the holes. I havent heard of any breaking but I know those cases are worth twice what a regular case is.
