3/16" is more than enough and 1/8" is fine as long as its designed correctly.

i always say that and get nothing but shit for it. if we didnt get such a deal on the 3/16 we would have done 1/8 on my frame.

Exactly, if built right 1/8" is plenty strong. I've been liking 2x4 .120 wall lately too.

not to mention the typically 175 welder isnt going to handle 3/16 really well without proper prep. 1/8 it can do just fine.
