I GUESS WHAT IM LOOKING FOR IS AN ANSWER OF WETHER OR NOT THE COMPUTER VARIES IN FUEL OUTPUT BY YEAR, IM PRETTTY SURE THE TRUCK IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS, SO LIKE I SAID, I PUT IN THE NEW COMPUTER AND IT FIRED RIGHT UP, BUT RUNNING LIKE SHIT... IM GUESSING THE TUNING IS DIFFERENT OR SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED, IF IM CORRECT, OBD1 DOES NOT LEARN LIKE OBD2 SO THERE SHOULDNT BE ANYHTING THE MOTOR WAS HOLDING ONTO DIFFERENT THAN WITH THIS OTHER COMPUTER, AGAIN, UNLESS THE COMPUTERS ARE DIFFERENT FROM 1991 TO 1993.

ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED..

most vehicles (obd 1, 2 or manufacturer specific) require you to have a certain set of numbers to match exactly to do an ecu replacement. the numbers can either come right off the old ecu or a certain digit(s) in the vin, or a combo of both. your local auto zone or napa will be able to help you out. you can't just swap them out since so many trucks had so many different options.

the most difficult one i ever did was a 1993 jeep grand cherokee. they needed to know 2wd, 4wd, 6 or 8 cyl, auto, manual, auto hubs, federal, canada, california, a/c, pwr steer, tranny model #, vin #, etc...i thought they were about to start asking for my social & mother's maiden name soon!!!

there are so many differences in ecu's that just about all you can do is call auto zone or napa & cough up the money for a new or reman one...sorry dude...good luck!

josh, there are a couple differnt computers. your white sticker there that is destroyed has the answer to your question. there are numbers and letters on there. if my memory serves me correctly the first 5 are what you need from there. i am sure a dealership could give you the info you need from your VIN. the reason yours is running bad is because you got the wrong computer.

i bought a 91 one time with a burnt up wiring harness and computer. replaced it all and it ran like shit. it took me a month to figure out the computer was wrong.

oreilly auto parts computers for early 90's stuff is usually under $150, just a thought.

I had the same prob in my 89 4x4 a few years back and that was the problem I ended up haveing to find the same year same numbers one. hope this helps.

If you go to www.car-part.com you can see all the qwestions it asked about your truck

the first 5 digits on yota ecu's are always 89661,if you get me your vin# i can tell you the last 5 digits of the ecu you need, and what years it fits.
