so during blooddrag this last weekend, i realized how useless it is for me to have opening doors on my dimce with a chopped roof... i usually pull a dukes of hazzard 90% of the time getting in and out anyways so imo doors are over-rated on this truck...
My roomate has a set of s10 bed rails so i figured i'd do away with the side windows and weld the doors shut...

My major concern is how i can get my door pillars welded/attatched to the pillars around the windhsield..The rubber gasket/trim around the windshield is my main concern.. i don't see a clean way of removing that trim n welding the pillars together... im thinking if i make a fresh filler to go from pillar to pillar along the top of the windshield would be my best bet, but im unsure about the structural integrity afterwards..

if you guys have any pics, or build ups of doing this please guide me in the right direction... any comments, or suggestion or greatly appreciated.. here's some pictures of what i got to work with...

Im also thinking this is the time to cut down the pillars as well and have the windhield chopped if im going to do it.. and also considering a complete sheetmetal interior except the dash n seats

Your best thing to do would be make a new channel for the window to sit in all together. With doing this you can do a window that glues in with a different style gasket.

make whole new pillars?
chop them off at the doors and run a piece of tubing bent on both sides that contours the windshield kinda like a rollcage and box it in from there?

that also leaves you with the choice of slanting your windshield since your basically cutting the windshield and pillars off and making new ones

call bob grant.. he can give u all the help you need

1. get rid of door panels
2. make new sheetmetal ones that roll over into door skins
3. throw side windows away
4. weld door shut
5. mold rest of cab into it(rear ext cab part)
6. run sheet metal all the way up the pillars
7. unibody with the bed

same thing im doin with mine man. doors are welded shut, all sheetmetal interior is in process,no windows, unibody with the cab and bed. i plan on having everything sheetmetal except my seats lol...if i ever work on the truck again, too focused on my other project and buildin the shop tho.

door panels are getting tossed, new sheet metal ones will be made..

im tossing the windows out all together, the truck has no roof, i have no idea why i even kept them in there to begin with...lol

im unsure about uni-bodying it, because god forbid something happens to the bed and then its a pain to fix things... i was also considering welding the fenders to the doors, but same thing, if i buckle a fender im screwed...

chris, lets see some pics of your ride!
