I dragged through my tank. I don't want to put a fuel cell in the bed. I'm thinking about sectioning a new tank this weekend. If I section about 1 1/2" out of it, that should be enough. But how the hell do I seal the inside of the welds to it won't rust or leak? Anyone input would be great!!

I took about 1.5" out of the middle of my 720 tank. We got it welded as good as we could and used por15 tank sealer as well. worked like a champ so far

Only problem is I have to get it done on Sunday. This truck is my daily driver. So what product can I by over the counter somewhere or where can I find something like you guys are talking about?

We have used what is called RED KOTE. You can purchase it at any o Reillys parts store. Should be about 25.00 for a quart and the quart will do 12 - 18 gal. We use this in our cells now. Plus sectioning a tank isnt really easy we did one just here recently and it defently didnt come out the way I would have like it.

Any good motor cycle custom shop should sell some kind of tank sealer. I used some white sealer on one I did once and it worked great. JR

you should be able to get POR sealer from a bodyshop supply store pretty much any day.

Oh ya, something else. Everyone i talked to recommended taking the gas tank to a radiator shop and having it boiled out, to remove the gas and fumes. I talked to Macs radiator about it, and he said that with DEQ regulations he isnt able to boil tanks anymore. Instead he gets a bottle of dawn dishwashing soap and pours the entire bottle in the tank, and then pressure washes the heck out of it until the water comes out without soap bubbles. He finishes with a quick poke of the torch into the openings to make sure, but he said he has never had one pop.
