hey guys, i realize this is a hard question to answer.

in a york 210 i know how much and what oil to put in it, but i dont want to take mine off and drain it. it is mounted vertical. can some give me an ESTIMATE of on a dipstick inserted into the side fill hole touching the bottom of the pump how high on a dipstick should it show when full.

thanks

when i first got mine, i read only to use PAG oil...... then i found this is the required oil when its used for a/c purposes. now, after 4 years of use, what i do is when i change my oil in my motor, i save that oil and use it in my york 210. i religiously change my oil every 3,000 miles so its not black and tar like, its still has the golden hue to it. i drain my oil trap twice a week and what drains out, i replace with equal amount. usually holds about 8-10 ounces.

I had bad luck getting a good reading with the dipstick. Not sure if it was just me, or what.

I think the crankshaft inside the pump needs to be in just the right spot to get a good reading.

I just add 6ozs of new motor oil after a weeks worth of daily driving hitting switches. That's always worked good for me. I think it is better to be underfilled that overfilled on those yorks. Just don't want to run it bone dry for very long. They are splash lubed with ball bearings, a little more forgiving than pumps with internal oil pumps and bushing-style pressurized bearings.

I run my pump up to 250 psi, so keep that in mind. Might burn more oil running that high.

I also think the oil kind of overheats and gets burned sometimes. Some sort of higher temp synthetic oil might work better in extreme uses.
