Newbie here. Done a search but no luck.

I have a '49 Chevrolet 1 ton dually. I want to keep it dually but get rid of the straight front axle and naturally the old rear end.

The width on the front end is 58" center tire to center tire. Don't know of any later model factory setups that is anywhere near that width. I have a '84 Chevrolet C30 but have no knowledge if it can be narrowed. I'm not up on dually setups and if any company out there builds custom front ends that may be in the width I'm looking for. I'm open to any help on this matter.

Thanks up front.

Modern dually wheels have a LOT more backspacing than the old iron, so consider what wheels you're going to use and if adapters will be needed so the thickness of those is factored in, to decide whether or not a particular front end is going to work.

Try looking at 3/4 ton/1 ton single wheel setups vs. dually as well. Obviously your wheel choice will play a role here too.
