No you don't. You can drag that 1/2" of cross member off.

actually on an 8.5 wide wheel you would need closer to +54 to tuck for a mazda.

7 inch wide needs about +32, 7.5 about +39, 8 about +46 and 8.5 would need as I said, +54. Which you cant get in 6 lug without buying a 3000 dollar set of billets. Redrill to 5 lug, lots of high offset 20's on 5 lug.

sheet metal is not going to matter, since it will hit the top part of the bed where the body line is.

You could use a courier or sundowner rear end to help with some narrowing, but then you have to watch out for the frame on the other side.

You don't have to z the frame. I know several people that lay on twentys without doing that.

to answer your question, no. You will need a narrower rearend. That quote from russ-d is correct. I dont think i have ever seen a mazda z'd well maybe the one on 24's is i know he narrowed the clip. I had a set of 20x8.5 with a +35 offset. and with my 2.5 inch BD i was going to narrow my rearend 9 inches. after i figured that out i threw them on my 4runner which was my daily at the time.

i was jsut asking about tucking. nothign to do with laying....im doing a courier rear. my main issue was the front? i kno i saw those new GM wheels with a 31mm offset tucking with 4wd sheetmetal?

If you aree a competent fabricator or know someone who is you could narrow the front clip at least an inch per side. A z would help as well for the fact that you could lay it on stock spindles instead of the drops that push the wheels out 1/2 inch or so. I'm going to try it on the next mazda I do, a 1" z and 1" norrower on either side is what I'm thinkning right now. I will have to mod the centre link for the steering and add a universal to the steering but it looks very doable regardless.

up front your good, you might have to do it without drop spindles tho.
