im a pretty competent individual, i understand physics, and im betting that these cans that are designed to hold a car off the ground can hold up my bed if im rolling 20mph downtown. i plan to put a locking pin system on the bed to keep it down during daily driving, i understand that not mounting it or securing it would make it prone to catching the wind on the highway. I just wanted to know if these will suffice, or if somebody could provide me with a better alternative air can.
as far as the bed requiring spacing to clear the cab, that isnt the case. if you think of the pivot point as the origin of a circle, and the bottom edge closest to the cab (the extremity that would allegedly cause the collision) as a point on the circumference, the radius does not change during rotation. as long as the rear cab wall is perpendicular to it when the bed is down, it will clear.
unfadeble did you even read the beginning of this thread, or were you too busy sipping your haterade? im almost possitive i said 20-30 MAX. "tilting it on the freeway" was never part of the plan.
