I had my gas tank powdercoated and now that I have finally started driving my truck again Ive spilled some gas on it. The gas ate up the powdercoating. IM PISSED!! I thought powder was more durable than paint, but I guess when it comes to different liquids it isnt. Can I just paint the tank now? Or is there any type of special prep work I need to do?

I filled up the tank, spilled gas, washed it off with soap and water, then noticed it was fucked. Then drove staight to the powder coater. He told me he give me a 15% discount off what I originally paid for the job. All that shit happened in less than 15mins. The store, my house and the powder coater are all within 1/2 mile. I was pissed to say the least.

You can paint over it, all you need to do is sand it like regular paint till there are no edges on it and epoxy prime if there are bare metal spots which there should be, then and again and paint. But like it has been said it shouldn't of came off like that. Unless it wasn't fully cured.
