I'm not really digging the caddy lights on my 87 burb. They're too tall for the bodyline, and i really don't like the way they look. I've been racking my brain trying to think of some custom tail light ideas but i'm coming up empty. The only thing i've come up with that's a little different is using stock tail lights or clear (or white) tails and painting over them, or smoking them since they'll be over flat black. Can this be done? Can i paint over clear lenses and have the bulbs show up? I've seen tails in the graphics before, but i've only seen them over red or white, i'm not sure how it will be over flat black.

Those new AVS billet tails look pretty dope, and there are all different sizes. Just a thought. JR

yeah, i saw those in the new street trucks. I like, but not really the look i'm going for. Thanks for the advice.

How bout the oval ones Cando sells with the billet overlays? They's lookk good where the caddy's are, or in the roll pan.

I was thinking maybe do a 10" or 12" LED on the upper pillars, just on the outside of the doors on the main body. You can still smoke the lenses, just make sure you have a red LED light up, and you shouldn't have any problems. Then you also really won't see them until they light up, kinda "STEALTH".

You can smoke a clear taillight no problem i think it turns out better than if u smoke a red lense. I just did a charger that we flat blacked and i smoked the taillights and then used a flat clear so they matched the outside of the car. Hope this helps i love the factory tails from that year man it would look dope. Everyone has LED's these days haha

tailights are overrated just shave them completely. put some slim leds in the lower part of the rear window and some tint on the window so you only notice them when lit up.

it looks like from the pics the upper pillars to the side of the rear doors is the same contour as a 88-98 chevy maybe you could mold in a set of 88-98 clear tails above the body line candy them black & use flattening agent in the clear.would be different & look killer i think.

id say either led's in the upper pillars or led's in the back windows. that way the whole ass end is shaved up and clean. that is if youve found a solution to those ginormous door hinges?
