I am going to do a 5 lug swap on my Dakota and am going to have Moser plug, drill and shorten my rear axles. I need a +45mm offset wheel to tuck. The wheels I am getting are 20x8.5 with +38mm offset. Does anyone know how much I should narrow the rearend to get these to tuck? I am thinking 1" on both sides but that just my guess.

Its usually best to get the wheels first. Then you can put them on the axle and measure the width. Then compare it to the narrowest point between your bedsides. Subtract the difference and divide by two. Then give yourself a half inch extra for clearance. Just my opinion.

Might be a stupid question but how to do this if the axle lug pattern is 6 and wheels are 5

Damn, that just put a hole in my theory.... Did not think about you getting the holes redrilled and narrowed at the same time. Just press (or hammer if you dont want to reuse them) the lugs out and set the wheels up to the axles for measurement.
