i have a 1985 nissan 720 with a 340 and 700r4 tranny in it. i want to swap to five lug but also want to run a ten inch wide rear tire. ive never seen narrowed axles toyota rears,,,but have for s-10 and there are plenty of dimes with v8s installed..any ideas????

You can narrow a Toyota axle. Moser will do the shafts. They will withstand some pretty good power too. My second option would be a 9". They are easy to narrow and new shafts are about the same cost as modifying stocks.

Check with Currie Enterprises and see what they can do for you. You may find an 8 inch ford axle to be a better fit in the back of your 720. The 8 inch is smaller but still very stout. The ones on Comets/Maverics are pretty narrow as well, you might be able to get away without any narrowing. My old mans rod has one in it, I'll measure it up for you next wknd.
