anybody a firefighter?

ive recently just got hired on at my local fire dept and im damn excited as hell! i tried once to get on at our sister city, phenix city, and twice here in columbus. so after 3 yrs i finally made it. so any other firefighters on here? ive talked to Tony Touch(e10pvmnt) already and he says he enjoys the hell out of it. my first day will be Nov 17th. i start rookie/fire school then im assuming. i believe its 12 weeks long. ill learn more about it at orientation on the 14th. anyways, if theres any others on here....do u enjoy ur job?

Just started Paramedic school myself....the other eatnpavment on here is a medic/LT for volusia county FL....best job ever...not to mention i only work 8 days a month and about 96 days a year.....lol

Finished the academy in the Dec but havent gotten hired on anywhere yet. Alomst made it into Round Rock but failed CPAT by one second. Was 6th on the list too. A week before the physical i took a bad fall getting ready for the test. It slowed me down on stations that used my hands. I couldnt believe i only missed it by one second. It was heart breaking. Still hasnt healed and its been almost three months. Another test is at the end of this month but dont think im gonna be able to apply. Bout to see an orthopedic next week. Im actually looking at moving to Florida maybe in a year or two. Been looking at departments online and checking out cities to move to.

just anf FYI....you will have to start all over if you move to FL......they do not honor reciprocity for firefighter I & II.......you can challenge paramedic though......but if you havent gotten a job yet now would be the time except that its a little hard to get a job since our wonderful governor fucked with property taxes and cut budgets to save homeowners $20 a month.......i got in just before it passed.......

as for the CPAT.....that shit i misleading.....the only CPAT i took was for Orange County and that shit beat me down....got to the last station and was done.......that stair climber is no joke......didnt bother going back but they called and said i was overqualified since i was already certifed and they wanted non cert candidates....if you want any more

ive passed the damn cpat 3 times now. hate that damn test. i never made it past the first interview till this year. hope u get healthy and are able to do it again Nick.

Well that sucks to hear bout the certs not passing over. Its kind of misleading though. On some of the apps it gives a number to call to get a cert challenged if applying from out of state.

Check with the states fir college or fire marhsalls office.....i had a girl in my standards class that was from ohio...she challenged the medic and the state wouldnt transfer her FF 1 or 2
