After taking some measurements I realized that I will not be able to run my factory steering box on my 01 frontier without my wheel hitting it. Im now trying to figure out how to replace it with a rack and pinion. I want to keep it power and I thought that using a pathfinder rack would maybe keep the same fittings for the hoses and allow me to use the same tierod ends. Im trying to figure out what I need to look for with this conversion. The front rails have been narrowed by 2" so the tierod ends will need to be shortened. Also, what about bumpsteer? Do i just need to make sure the tierod ends are at the same angles as stock? Ive never done a rack conversion before so any info will help.

If the frame has been narrowed, then chances are that the a-arm mmounting points were also moved inward, right? If so, then you will need to find a rack that has the inner tierod points as close to the distance of the stock inner tierod points, minus the 2" that you narrowed the frame.

I hope that makes sense...

Yeah, that make perfect sense. I might have to go with a thunderbird rack for it to be that narrow. Would I be able to use my nissan steering pump with the ford rack? I know I would have to get some custom hoses made up.

In most cases you can mix and match powersteering pumps and power racks or boxes.
