my brother told me its not possible to weld alum to steel or vice versa... you would need to weld alum to it for it to work

it is possible to weld aluminum to steel, but it has to be done with friciton, mazda came out with the procedure last year in a concept car. panel bond. 3m 8115

or build the hood peice out of aluminum and have someone tig it. those hoods are thin as crap.

8115 expands and contracts differently than steel and aluminum. It will show lines where ever a seam is in diff tempertures.

im sure it would look better then pop rivets with bondo over them

it can be done with explosive bonding, ive seen it done before. will it ever work for you and your hood? no, not at all.
