There are too many different ways to do it. In many vehicles, I'll actually go into the latch and remove a spring so that it is easier for the popper to unlatch the door. It is also a good idea to weld the lock mechanism in the unlocked position. We had a truck that need to be slim-jimmed and we accidentally locked it while trying to open the door, that made for a very discouraging half day.

spot on maxwell... locks in some doors are very sensitive and even a little jarring will engage the lock and youll be having a nice adventure lol

i understand... but remember to get strong keeys and excercise your fingers latches are usually a bit stronger when you connect the just to a lock cylinder

It is pretty simple to do you just have to be able to visulise what is going on in the door, you can bend the rods to make it work. But as stated above you need to weld the lock were it can't be locked. If you dont do this and the door gets locked you cant get in.
