Well the 4-link in the mazda i just got is about 6-8 years old and needs redo. I will probly be making my own or ordering one from fbi. But my ? is what are the benifets of rod ends over hime joints? Don't realy care about hitting sides just want a nice ride

Rod ends will give a better ride since they're urethane, the heim joints tend to be harsh and they also wear out sooner due to the metal/metal contact.

A rod end and a Heim are the same thing. Heim is just a brand. Like Kleenex.

I caught what you meant, its just a pet peeve of mine.

Anyways, if you use cheap rod ends they will wear out fast. But if you use a nice rod end it will outlast a poly bushing. I use chromoly FK rod ends by QA1.

By the time you have the rod end, jam nut, tube adapter, and high misalignment spacers, you're looking at around $40-60 each depending on the size you get. 5/8" would be large enough for one end of a 4-link. I use a 3/4" or 7/8" rod end on the single end of a 3-link.

I would only use "spherical rod ends" (just for you Seth  ) if you're planning on keeping the truck. If it's just being repaired to sell, don't waste your money.

My pet peeve is that people think that spherical parts wear out fast. It's only the low grade parts that wear out quickly, the high grade stuff will last for years.

our pathfinder dancer in my profile has had 3/4" qa1 rod ends for at least 6 years now... never any problem and still perfect to this day keep in mind that the rear end had been forced to the side by the ground more times than i can remember... spend a little money up front you go alot further without having to replace things!
