Does anybody know what issue of minitruckin they did the tech article on building the square air tanks? I was wanting to know what metal was used and if there is an equation for figuring out how much air a custom tank holds. Sorry for the long ?

For a square tank, the math is real easy. Length X Width X Height which will give you cubic inches. Just convert that to gallons. (www.onlineconversion.com makes this easy)

Square tanks are not something I would recommend unless you really know what you are doing. Corners and flat surfaces are not common on pressure vessels (air tanks, gas bottles etc) because of the stresses involved. Its really something that needs to be properly engineered and professionally welded.

i dont know which mag it was bro but the equation is a simple volume formula. you can measure the outside of your tank, subtract the wall thickness on each side, then multiply L x W x H. once you have your volume, you multiply the volume by 0.00433 to get US gallons.
