What kind of tools do you have. A lift is crucial but not required. IF customs has a tons of construction pics that can give you an idea. heres a link to one thread with pretty good pics how they throw 2x3 inside the old frame and box it all in. or you can build a new frame from the fire wall back its hard to say without knowing how much work your going to do.

Have plenty of tools not alot of know how right now. Only reason im wanting a stockfloor is that im kinda tall and this will be driven every day from work and back. How much space will I really loose if I cut the floor out? I know that way is alot easier to do may just do that instead till I learn more about it.

Check out AHAB's profile on here. He has an 84-88 body style but it's very similar to yours. He has some good pix of the chassis that will help you see whats involved. You will need a z in the frame as well to lay flat, there is a sticky on how to do it if you haven't read it yet. Are you planning to backhalf the truck too or are you looking to do a hybrid stock/custom chassis under the cab and just a step notch with a traditional bd for the bed?
