That could be, I'm not sure. I've always put balljoints in the way they came stock, only messed with tie rods because of changing the steering setup.

But yes, simply flipping the balljoint will change your geometry, and by a lot. It would probably make the Mazda bump steer a lot worse.

I can bet it will. Thats one of the reasons that I am working on stock spindle, stock balljoint lower arms for Mazdas. Welding cast, even just for sleeving purposes, needs to be done by someone who knows what they are doing. You also have to remember that ear on the spindle is holding the entire weight of the truck up.

Ya I'm not saying everyone should go weld on their spindles, just that one method is safer than others. Refer to the cast welding thread that Max posted in. It shouldn't be taken lightly.

Also, speaking of spindles I want to run an idea past you for something I want to build. Need to see if you can make something for me.

I know on some fullsizes....particularly the Dodges the balljoint is designed to be pointing down....it presses in from the bottom of the LCA, and has a c-clip on the top side.....Well if you flip it, the only thing holding the weight of the vehicle is the press and the c-clip. This both on the 2nd gen and 3rd gen dodge....that's why when we flip the balljoints we use the Chevy balljoint...because it is designed to be pointed up. I would really pay attention to pressin balljoints when flipping the balljoint. The factory 3rd gen balljoint when flipped will seperate as someone found out at Battle Drag a few weeks ago. Its worked for some people but failed for others. I'd try to find a balljoint that is larger than your stock balljoint....then reverse ream the spindle to fit that balljoint. Like I said....i've only worked on fullsizes and a s10 so i'm not familiar with alot of minis...but i know some press in balljoint are designed to be used one way or the other...whereas I wouldnt think it would matter with a screw in/bolt-in balljoint.

Seth get with me on what you want to do. Send me a email, text, or give me a call.

Not that Aim knows anything but isnt that why the mazda drop spindles come with the plate and the s-10 balljoints because of what chris was saying about compression and tension balljoints? I have been waitn for max on this one tho.
