I have a couple guys interested in having me do sheetmetal beds for them. I've done a decent amount of sheet work, and tubs, notch covers etc so I'm sure I can do a nice job of it, I just have no idea what the going rate for something of that nature is. Labor cost only. Just simple, clean setups, nothing too crazy. Not bodyworked, just metalfinished and ready to go to the bodyshop for finishing.

id prolly go with the cost of materials and go from there..... you have the knowledge and experience so figure out what your time is werth. sheet of metal, roughly $100, tubs roughly $50, welding wire, gas, etc and many hours labor could be anywhere from $400 all the way up to $6-7-800.

Shit.....16ga is $90 dollars a sheet here....Looking at atleast 2 sheets plus the tubs and welding supply...I would say $300 for materials if ur lucky....not including any 1x1 u might need...thats $25 for 24 feet. Plus labor....id say prolly a full 8 hrs....Just ask yourself what you wanna make....I try to make around $40-$50 an hour on jobs like that. So I'd say around $800-$1000 range. Good luck getting that though.....prolly more like $250 LOL

I wouldn't do one for less than $1000. I try to give people etimates, but go true hourly on stuff like that.

not to get off topic but jerry, where do you buy your metal? temple steel? if so, take a trip to waco. it is half the price. get with me if you need the numbers to the different suppliers.

Im doing a 2004 HD chevy right now. Im also dropping the bed at the same time so I cut out the whole inside and added 1" tube skeleton style and then added sheet metal over that. its taken 2 sheets so far but I still have to build a box for the compressors and tanks under the rear floor area. I have pics if you need some.
