i'll take you through step by step from what I can remember

initial equation:dy/dt = ty^2 + t

multiple each side by dt and seperate out the t from the right side of the equationdy = t*dt*(y^2+1)

divide each side by y^2+1(1/(y^2+1))*dy = tdt

integrate each side to get your answerarctan(y) = t^2/2

can't gurantee its right but looks pretty damn good to me

how would you solve for "y"

arctan(y) = t^2/2y = arctan2 * t^2 ?

arctan is the inverse tangent, multiply each side by tangent
y = tan(t^2/2)?

i'm glad i'm done with calc/diff eq nonsense. i have not used any of that shit since i graduated, thus i dont remember it...

I have been in the enginnering field since 2000. Everyone tells me that this is almost a waste of time. I am just doing it for the grade to move on to the core eng. classes.

this looks like differential equations or an advanced calc 2 course. This stuff is the fundamentals of engineering in 2 ways 1) you actually need to know this stuff 2) more importantly, you have to be able to think, yes anyone can technically be an engineer but how many can come up with new and original ideas? only the good ones who are skilled in the basics. I didn't believe it until I got to Georgia Tech then it all sorta clicked in.

^ exactly right GT has the impression doesn't it. I'll take a stab at it, although I haven't had Calc courses in 4 years. If I get anything more than what is already posted, I'll add it.
