My wife had me shave the handles on her celica. It looks cool and all but in the winter this spal kit likes to act up. Get an autoloc kit if you do it. My buddies have never had a problem with them.

i left the lock cylinder on my 89 on the driver door. welded its linkage to the latch linkage. if you have the lock in the handle, go get an old lock from a junkyard and just use an extra key. then you cant get locked out if the battery dies. i also went to a hood latch that you get through the grille, not the dash.

If you live in a region that gets down below freezing anytime during the year, or your vehicle has a reacquiring electrical problem and drains the battery then I don't recommend it. Their cool as hell, but not real practical. I have the autoloc kit that came on the truck when I bought it, and the brain only wants to send signal about half the time. The other half the time my doors freeze shut along with any moisture that leaks down onto the solenoid. I've had several trucks in the past that I have ran the spal kit on and never had any issues. I still have one that has been going strong for over 5yrs now. All my friends have had the same luck with spal, but its all on personal preference. I'm only saying its a bad idea now, because I'm locked out, lol.
