On a 92 ranger with a 4.0L i read that the fuel pressure is 60psi with the key on...that seems awefully high. But im wondering what kinda inline fuel pumps is everyone running on their trucks? i was thinking about getting the MSD high volume pump bit its a little pricey

And i was told by someone once before that they used a cheap inline pump from autozone and it ran fine on the 4.0L that they did...

Be careful on what pump you get .I replaced mine to and it ran good but later found out it was running way to lean.(With key on fuel pressure should be around 35-45 psi)

I used a cheap inline pump rated at 55psi, I think the factory pressure is 42-43psi actually if I remember right. That pump lasted a few years and seized up. Now I am using the MSD #2225 inline pump same style but it says its 85psi.

the msd one works GREAT. 2225 i think is the number. the accel pump that is the same is like 175 bux were as the msd one is only 115 from summit.

factory has regualtor on the fuel rail so it will do the proper pressure no matter what. it should run better to. also it HAS to be on a sumped tank, it will not pull out of the top.

The MSD 2225 is the pump i was looking at buying, i didnt know if it was too much pressure for it, i didnt know if the factory fuel pressure regulator should be able to handle it

wow, james posted that info at the same time and we both said basically the same thing, i guess what i had in mind will work... thanks alot everyone

now i just gotta find out the wiring harness diagram on the factory fuel pump hookup so i can just tap my power off of that

pink or red is hot, yellow is to gauge and the other 2 are grounds. one to tank and to sending unit. or just pull the stock pump and see were the wires go.
