hey guys just wondering what size notches you guys are running to lay 265/35/22 rims, i have heard people say you only need a 8 inch notch and some saying you need a 10 inch notch? then there is some saying that you dont want to be overnotched? also i want to be able to fit a bumpstop in thanks ryan.

A 8" notch will lay a 29" tire with a small bumpstop.

You should be aight with the 8" notch.

thanks guys going off a tire height calculator they will be 29.30" tall, how small would this bumpstop be you speak of marcos? maybe it will be better to run a 8.5" notch

over notching becomes an issue due to the height it sticks into the bed. and more so, it can allow the rear end to push the tires above frame level in bumps while laid out loosing traction. or it can go too far up when the front is higher up than the rear, which can throw off clearances with exhaust, driveshafts, ect and the angles of parts. a bumpstop set to hit about 1/4"-1/2" above even with ground should be about right.

so if you where to have a larger notch could you just put in bigger bump stops to allow for the extra travel with the larger notch?

will that also lay that same size tire on a stepside? with out cutting the top of stepside or cutting the axles
