the truck is pushin 200K so it does have a lot of miles. keep in mind it has been fully m aintained since day 1 and the guy i bough it from gave me every recipt to prove it.

when it runs bad it doesnt smoke anymore or anythign like that, the oil is clean and full and doesnt seem to be burning any oil. it does smell as if there is too much gas but i am not totally sure how to describe the smell any other way. i have removed the cat and replaced it with a straight pipe. the o2 sensor looks really old and may be original but they are fairly pricy and it was the same old o2 sensor before any of this happened.

the truck is stock height and has nothing done to it except for a drop in k and n filter.

when you talk about air meter are your refereing to the mass air flow. I have heard of people testing these but not sure how to do it. this also brings up my question to wouldnt it be that way all the time if it was the air meter.

It runs crappy when its first started up and then after a bit it clears up and runs better. when it runs better it does seem to be idleing higher then usual but i dont have a tach so not sure of the numbers. i live in florida and it does this in any temperture.

then even when it is warm and running better i will be sitting ata light and it will ahve a big miss onece or twice that will jerk the truck a little bit but it never stals and never does it 2 times in a row.

i have a lot of expierence working on many different trucks but not to much with these older toyotas with a million sensors and vaccuum lines. i appreciate the help and am still tyring to figure this thing out so any more ideas are appreciated. this is my daily driver so it sucks not having it.

It would probably be a good idea to pick up a Chilton's repair manual for this truck. Get the Chilton's and not the Haynes. Chiltons will have more info to your particular truck. Haynes is kind of generic in some cases. I'd try to trouble shoot it with the manual. It should also have the info on how to test the mass air flow meter.
