just wondering besides one is plastic to aluminum is there any real big differences? no one really around my area runs sleeve bags so i thought i'd post on here. so you know its going on a 54 chev pick up with a trianglulated 4 link and the bags will be mounted behind the diff. thanks for any info on this everyone!

i have the f9000 bags on the rear of my blazer and i like the ride, it gets good travel for bags being on the axle and mine also have the plastic. they are 4 1/2 compressed and just over 12 inches extended. i've never seen the 9001 but there is a 9100 which is think is a lot bigger and wider. you can check with suicidedoors they sell both of these bags.

The 9000 series stuff is for lighter weight vehicles that won't ever see too much load. The 9100 parts are for mid weight vehicles that might tow a small trailer or carry more passengers. I have used the 9100 parts on everything from the rear of a Cadillac to a pickup. They work beautifully as long as they are set up correctly.

When you mean set-up correctly... what do you mean. What is critical? You dont want to collapse them more than what is recommended. You cant have any weight on them when collapsed. You cant over extend them, so you must have them limited with a shock. What else Max? Im thinking about installing the 9100's on the next Escalade that I do.

ya i'm wanting to go with the 9100's as well, what does everyone reccomend for the best place to get them?

On a larger vehicle that has some weight to it, I would suggest mounting the bags directly over the axle. But on a small vehicle will less weight (like a minitruck) I would mount the bag in a little bit of leverage, mabey so the bag moves 3/4" when the rearend moves 1". They will feel a bit harsh otherwise, of course nothing compared to a double convoluted bag though.

Im confused. Some sites like SSD say a firestone 9000 is 4.5 in. compressed and 12 in. extended.Firestone's website lists the 9000 at 6.25 in. compressed and 10.25 in. extended.http://www.fsip.com/pdfs/RR/8196.pdf page 33 What specs should be used? Im thinking about swapping a pair of RE7s that are over the axle of a Colorado for a pair of 9000's to give a better ride. I just have to make sure I have enough room. 4.5 probably. 6.5 NO WAY...

The colapsed height of the sleeve style bags is probably the biggest limiting factor of them. We do some major frame mods to the Cadillacs to use the 9100 part in them. I believe the 4.5" colapsed is for the 9000 series and the 6.5" colapsed is for the 9100 series parts. Nothing against SSD, but I would believe the Firestone numbers before the SSD numbers.
