well, i posted in the off topic forum but didn't get many responses. Anyways, my job situation has really really sucked some major ass this year and it has motivated me to go back to school once again. I know a lot of you have learned on your on but if you were to actually get a degree in graphic design, where would you go?

I would go to a school that specializes in it of course. But i would sway more towards computer illustration like pixar type stuff and 3D. That is what i would do if i wasnt old and could go back to school lol.

I would have to agree.....I went to a standard university where Art was not the dominant major and I feel that I lost out on alot of the training and resources that would be available at an Art Academy......I have been looking to go to CCS or the Cleveland Institute of Art or the American Academy of Art in California. These are some of the best out there for automotive design and an overall art degree. If you have the chance to go to a true art school take it....it will give an advantage and nice starting point

I think that most of us picked the self taught road due to frankly not wanting to work for someone else the rest of our life.  But if you go the school route the previous to posts are pretty much dead on.  I wouldn't get tied up in a regular university where you spend 3 of the 4 years learning about things you already know.  Go specialized.

I'd have to agree with Brandt

agree'd x2... I went to a University and i felt it was a total waste of time. and not to mention the ass load of Pre-Rec's that are absolutely annoying and have nothing to do with Art or Design. I mean when am i going to have a client walk into my shop and ask me "To what extent did German foriegn policy in the early twentieth century contribute to the tensions in the bilateral quarglemere of Britain and France?"   Never, so stick to what your trying to learn and get specialized in it.

if your already familiar with  adobe creative suite than you can earn the degree online if all your lookin for is the paperwork to back your work.   BaS in graphic design  from pen foster online and ashland university online uses :   adobe illustrator adobe photoshop adobe dreamweaver adobe flash pro adobe in design   and the basic microsoft programs      im thinking about transfering my credits over and finishing up online...   ive learned more from the people who replied in this very same post than i have in the last year and a half of college
