so, as you may all know i have a 78 yota im always working on. the front brakes on these trucks really suck. they work, but not that well. thin solid rotors, small diameter and tiny pads. i wanna upgrade to 89-95 spindles and brakes. and use 95 style 4runner calipers. those, i already have. i was at a junkyard today and did some measurements on a 74 (last year of drums), a 77, and a 92ish. it seems like a swap that shouldnt be difficult. the issues i did see though were that the lower balljoint will need to be flipped to face the other way (up, instead of down). but, the distance from tie rod to centerline and upper balljoint to spindle stud are both almost dead even. the 92 didnt have rotors so i couldnt get a measurement of the balljoint centerline to the wheel flange. i need that before i can go farther. and ill have to make a bracket to hold the 4runner calipers. but it seems like a nice easy upgrade for the older trucks. and, 75-78 spindles are a direct swap to get discs. measurements are all the same.

if somebody can get me a measurement on an 89-95 for me id love it. i need from the center of the lower balljoint, straight out to where the mounting surface is for the wheel. if that works out all the rest should be good. ill test it out at a junkyard to see if stuff all bolts up correct.

i think it was mazduh that was asking about my probes clearing with discs, and the balljoint centerline on disc and drum spindles to the wheel flange is dead even. soo, looks like you're in the same boat i am finding wheels.

ill keep this updated as i proceed.

also, im pretty sure they wont effect ride height, but if they do i have a few sets of coils to make shorter or taller if need be. i hope the newer spindles set the wheels in farther so i dont need such high offset. a few mills would be awesome. ive got +40 on a 16x7". and they barely clear front and rear.
