Rebuilt title in texas ?

Ive had my ranger since i was 16, and in 2004 i hit a pole, and damaged the driverside panel on the bed of my truck, and the insurance totaled it. I got the truck running again, and i want to get it registered, and i was wondering if anyone has been through the process of getting a rebuilt title in texas, and what all must be done to get it back? if anyone has any info i would appreciate it.

Did you call your local Tax office (or wherever you go to get your tags, ours happens to be in the same building)? There will be some paper work, some waiting, and a fee.

is the fee pretty expensive?

I don't know what they base it on. I have never done it, give them a call.

if u got the titla form the insurance company and it is a pink (salvage/rebuilt) title then theres really nuthin to do but go to the courthouse and renew the registration if its in ur name already....as for the inspection, just go to the inspection station and speak nuthin of the rebuilt title issue and ur clear....its a dont ask dont tel kind of thing with the inspection....but i have heard of rebuilding a vehicle and having it go through a thorough inspection by certain inspector and u can actually get a blue title back on the vehicle....not sure where or how to do it though...

It really depends on how the insurance company handled it. Did they pay you and then you bought the truck back with a salvaged title or did they total it and pay you and never pick it up or what. It all depends on what they did with the title. If you got a title and its in your name just inspect and register it like nothing happened.
