I have a question regarding making my own 6 Link.
My question regards the rear facing link bars. All of the kits I have seen use a dog bone type pivoting link near the axle and a fixed position bushing mount on the rear of the link connecting to the frame.
Would it be possible to use the factory rear leaf spring shackles on the frame for the pivot and the mount at the axle be a fixed position bushing?

Basically turn the bar around and have the pivoting end in the rear instead of at the axle. My main concern would be the bag mounted on the bar/frame would be too close to the pivoting end of the bar.

i would also like to know if its possible to turn my parellel 4 link into a 6 link by using the stock shackle hangers. subscribed

Yes it is. I built the one on my old Toyota using stock Chevy shackles from an 80's C10.

I see how you did yours, Seth, but can the pivot shackles be used on the opposite side? I was looking to use the stock shackles in the stock location and have the axle end use just a bushing with 4-link type mounting tabs

I guess you could do that. I just don't like that idea because as the axle moves forward and back it will push the bar, which will also move the lower half of the bag, misaligning it.

I was afraid of that, thanks for the input.   I figured that is why the dog bone was always by the axle.   Better to redesign it now, before it goes on the truck
